On Friday morning, the evil that pervades our fallen world, yet in the US prefers normally to conceal itself within the shadows, thrust itself with horrific cruelty into the light of day, into the very heart of innocence, and the soul of our nation was pierced as with a sword.
As we gather today to give worship and thanks to the Almighty, let us offer our prayers that God will pour out his grace and comfort upon the people of Newtown, CT, for we know that “he himself heals the broken-hearted, and binds up their wounds” (Psalm 147:3). Let us pray that He will welcome into His loving and merciful embrace the souls of those whose lives on earth were wickedly taken from them. Let us pray that the Holy Spirit will overshadow the loss of innocence and bring about a rich harvest of virtue, courage, mercy, compassion, and love.
And let us pray for Second Coming of the Lamb, when
“God himself will wipe every tear from their eyes. And death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain any more, for the former things have passed away.” – Rev 21:4
